Baltimore has been hit by the biggest snow storm in years. It's hard to say "Do not be afraid." But it is what Jesus told us over and over again in the Bible. So today is another reminder to put your trust in Jesus.
It is said over 125 times in the Bible, one way or the other not to be afraid. In a snow storm the list of what to fear goes on and on. Did we get enough bread? Oh no, we're running low on Folgers! Will the power go out? Will the cable go out? What if we can't watch the Super Bowl tomorrow? What if I slip in the snow? What if one of the kids gets hurt? How are we ever going to shovel all this? I need to get to work! So if you are bored enough to make a list of all your snow related fears, know that there are 125 verses to cover each and every one of them.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 NIV
"Why are you frightened?" he asked. "Why are your hearts filled with doubt?" Luke 24:38 NLT
"Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Matthew 8:26 NLT
Take courage. I am here! Matthew 14:27 NLT
