Baltimore Black LGBT to March in Response to Brutal Beating Stylist Kenny Shaw

On Saturday, January 05, 2012, Baltimore's Black LGBT community and their supporters is set to COME OUT, and support our Brother Kenny Shaw as takes a stand on the same corner where he was a victim of a brutal hate crime, beaten repeatedly for 10-12 minutes because he is gay. Kenny wasn’t beaten up by the police or a mob of racist white people. Kenny was brutalized and victimized by other black men who live in his neighborhood. And it is in his neighborhood, and at the corner of Milton and Hoffman where he will take a stand against the hatred and brutality of Black LGBT in Baltimore and across this nation.

As the Black LGBT community we can no longer live in silence. Too many times we are abused and harmed and we say nothing. Now is the time to stand up. We have been killed, beaten, raped, and even in some of our churches where we sing, usher, preach, and tithe we are called fags from the pulpit. To our friends and families we ask that you support and stand with us on this day of liberation, justice, and love. Brother and sisters who are not living out or openly gay we love you and we support you.

The March will start promptly at 12 noon at the corner of Gay and Chester streets in East Baltimore. We will march South down Chester Street to Hoffman and then we will march East on Hoffman to Milton to the exact location where Kenny Shaw was a victim of this viscous hate crime.

If you would like to join us, have questions, or would like to assist in the planning and preparation please call 410 967 6262 Reverend Kinji Scott. We especially would like to hear from more individuals who have also been victims of these hate crimes and the families of those who lost loved ones from brutal hate crimes.
