Baltimore Beer Week Favorite for October 16th - Kloby's Tailgate & Pig Roast

The Drunken Intellectual presents his Best of Baltimore Beer Week, featuring his favorites from each day of the extravaganza. Today, we examine Sunday, October 16th.

And here we are... finally! Today marks the beginning of Baltimore Beer Week... and the end of my series on "What the hell should I do during Baltimore Beer Week?". Now that the curtain is being lifted and the gloves are coming off, I will take the time to examine the very last day of this epic celebration, Sunday, October 16th. On this fine morning, many of us will be shivering on the floor in the fetal position, whispering, "No mas cervezas," over and over again. However, for the stalwart few who have something left inside after 10 days of gorging on the fruit of the barley, there is: the Raven’s Tailgate and Pig Roast with Flying Dog at Kloby's Smokehouse.

My thinking here is that no matter how much one loves beer, it might be tough to drink any more this Sunday without a little extra motivation... and a LOT of good food. Kloby's will offer both, with a fantastic pre-game tailgate featuring a whole pig, their excellent BBQ victuals (pronounced "vittles"), and a bunch of Flying Dog brews. Plus, if you're a Ravens fan, the home game against the Texans doesn't start until 4pm, so you can still get a bit of noshing in before heading to the stadium. If not, just stick around after the other folks disappear and clean up the scraps! Pretty good deal if you ask me...

For now though, be ready to kick off the festivities this evening at the Opening Tap Celebration. And don't worry if you miss an event or two... there are 300 more out there waiting for you. Good luck, godspeed, and drink well my friends.

DRUNKEN INTELLECTUAL'S FAVORITE EVENTS #11

Honorable Mention:
  • Four Course Beer Brunch at Mt Airy Inn
Sunday is made for brunch. And 4 courses paired with Brewer's Alley beer for $40 makes it even better. Boys and girls from here to Frederick - check it out!

  • Sloppy Seconds Sunday at Hop Heads
OK, so I admit, I originally chose this one for the name. But on this final day, selling all leftover brews from previous samplings at half price sealed the deal here.

  • Skee Ball and Beer at Johnny Rad's
Do I even need to explain why this is awesome? Throw in prizes for the skee ball competition (and that it's 3 blocks from my house) and this just plain rocks!
