The 2013 Baby Boomer/Senior Expo will be held October 9 and 10, 2013 in the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. Over 11,000 baby boomers and senior citizens are expected to attend this year’s Expo, presented annually by the Baltimore County Department of Aging. The 2013 Expo, which carries the theme ‘Discover the Power of Age,’ features information, resources, entertainment, demonstrations, products and an array of exhibits and services geared to baby boomers and seniors.
The Expo includes 300+ exhibitors and vendors who will offer baby boomers valuable information on everything from traveling, home repairs, housing, fitness, energy conservation, financial planning, wellness and healthcare to product giveaways. Exercise demonstrations, free preventative health screenings and an Art/Craft Contest/Show showcasing the talents of older artists will also be offered.
One of the highlights of the Expo will be a special appearance by the 1950’s Original Drifters on Wednesday, October 9th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This headline entertainment will give boomers a taste of their youth, with songs like This Magic Moment, Under the Boardwalk, Some Kind of Wonderful and Save the Last Dance for Me. Attendees will also enjoy continuous entertainment at the Expo.
Fitness demonstrations, including Zumba Gold, Tai Chi and Yoga, span across the two days. A number of county agencies and elected officials will be on hand so boomers can get answers to any questions they may have and learn about future aging services. Information on volunteer opportunities will be available at the Expo, as will flu and pneumonia shots.
The Expo runs from 9 AM to 6 PM on Wednesday, October 9th and from 9 AM to 4 PM on Thursday, October 10th. Admission to the Expo is $2.00 or two cans of non-perishable food. Attendees who pay will receive a free gift. All proceeds from the Expo are donated to the Fund for Needy Seniors, which provides emergency assistance for Baltimore County seniors.
