There will be two days of professional racing as well as a full amateur program on Sunday just as they have in the past. So lube your chain, get some race gas and dig out your riding gear because even though we are in the deep freeze of one of the coldest winters in years doesn't mean you can't get some seat time.
Last year TJ Phillips from New Castle, PA finished one position behind fellow western PA rider Steve Roman in the AX Lites main event during Friday's pro race. These two were the only Pennsylvania riders in the AX Lites main on the first night of competition last year and they not only come from the same region of the state their results were similar that night one year ago. In 2012 TJ Phillips won saturday night's 250 A main at the only arenacross in Harrisburg, Motorama. In 2013 it was Steve Roman that won the 250 A main at Motorama. These results over the last couple of years at similar events would make you believe that these two riders would be battling and finishing together almost every time they were on the same track together. But there is always one rider who ends up breaking through and having better results. At this time in their careers it is Steve Roman who seems to be building on his success of last year.
Steve improved from his 6th place finish in Baltimore last year during Friday's AX Lites main to a 3rd place podium in Saturday's AX Lites main last year. He then went on to win everything at Motorama 2013 to winning his AX Lites heat race in Worcester, MA last Friday night at the opening round of the Amsoil Arenacross tour. He continued to progress by finishing third in the AX Lites main to winning his AX Lites heat and the prestigious main event the very next day. Where as TJ Phillips crashed out of the Saturday night race in Baltimore last year when he got caught up in a first turn yard sale at the start of his heat race in that division one year ago. That incident kept Phillips from even racing at Motorama 2013 which was a disappointment to himself and the Motorama fans.
Who will show up this weekend? Will there be a bigger presence of Pennsylvania riders? And if there is will they be able to mix things up for the stars of the Amsoil Arenacross tour?
