Balls to the wall action at UFC on Fuel 8 as Silva survives crotch kicks in win (Video)

According to a March 3 report from Fox Sports, Wanderlei Silva survived two brutal kicks to the crotch in a victory over Brian Stann on March 2 at the UFC on Fuel TV 8 event in Tokyo, Japan.

There was nine minutes of exciting back-and-forth violence in the main event of UFC on Fuel TV 8, and the action was only stopped when Silva was caught twice with kicks to the crotch.

Despite the pair of low blows, Silva bounced back and delivered with a gorgeous left hook that sent Stann sprawling to the mat in the second frame.

The fight was stopped with 52 seconds left in the second stanza, as Silva walked away with his hand raised.

“Wanderlei has always been one of my favorite fighters ever,” Stann said of Silva. “He’s one of the fighters that impressed me and made me want to get into the sport. I’m very proud to be part of his career. As much as this hurts right now, and my heart is broken, I’m proud I put my name on the line.”

After another brutal fight, it's tough to say where Silva goes from here. UFC on Fuel TV 8 proved that the 36-year-old can still take a punch and deliver an exciting performance, so it's a safe bet retirement is at least a couple fights away.

“He’s a tough guy,” Silva told Fuel TV. “He put in a great performance. It’s the kind of fight I love to do. We’re there to fight. I am not there to run. I like to fight like that. Thanks a lot to Brian Stann for fighting me. It was a great show for the fans.”
