Last night, Ballet Hispanico honored the Ford Foundation with the Civic Inspiration Award at the Plaza Hotel at the Spring 2014 Gala.

The event celebrated "Community Partnerships" through the ARTS with live music from the two-time Grammy winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra along with the performers and students of Ballet Hispanico and costumes designed by Fashion Week Favorite/co-chair of the Gala Honorary Committee, Venezuelan designer Angel Sanchez along with choreographer Gustavo Ramirez Sansano.

Gustavo Ramirez Sansano's latest new work, El Beso opens at the Joyce Theatre in Chelsea beginning next week, on April 15th and running through April 27th with the New York Season of Ballet Hispanico.

With over 75 years of independent, nonprofit, grant-producing efforts, The Ford Foundation 's mission seeks to eliminate poverty, social injustices and to make a positive difference in the community.

Ballet Hispanico celebrates 43 years of performance and is the nation's leader in Latino dance. The gala last year raised over $1 million dollars to promote educational efforts including: scholarships, arts locally.

The gala also was headed by Event Chairs, Jody and John Arnhold, Kate Lear, Jonathan LaPook, David Perez, Milena Alberti and Randy and Susan Falco.
