Ball Up Streetball Tour coming to SECU Arena near Baltimore August 9th

Did you know? Ball Up is giving local basketball players throughout the Baltimore area the chance to go pro during the 2014 Ball Up Summer Tour.

Local players are invited to bring out their unique skills as they compete for a deal worth $100,000 and a spot on the Ball Up All-Star roster, awarded at the end of the tour. While cheering on the local basketball players as they go head to head against the Ball Up All-Stars at 6 p.m. on August 9, 2014 at SECU Arena located at Towson University, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21202, families can take in the excitement to include guest NBA all-star coaches Metta World Peace and Gilbert Arenas, musical performing and special guest attendances.

Keep in mind, The Ball Up Summer tour not only offers family entertainment it's a opportunity for local basketball players to become professional athletes.

Local untapped streetball talent throughout the Baltimore area can take their shot and come out to Central Park (2610 McCulloh Street, Baltimore, MD 21217) at 11 a.m. on August 9, 2014 to participate in the open run tryouts for the opportunity to compete against the very best in streetball. Ten players will be selected to represent Baltimore in a competition against the Ball Up team in a thrilling, heart-pounding display of talent and skill. The Ball Up All-Stars have yet to lose in the four year history of the summer tour. Throughout the tour, two MVPs from each city will be invited to participate in a two-day combine camp in which 10 finalists will be selected to play against the Ball Up All-Stars in a championship game in Las Vegas. At the end of the championship game one MVP will win a multi-year contract and become a Ball Up All-Star.

“This year, we anticipate some of the toughest competition that Ball Up has faced, especially with a stop in Baltimore,” said Demetrius Spencer, CEO of Ball Up. “The level of skill and talent we find each year grows exponentially and we always look forward to realizing new talent on the court.”

The 2014 Ball Up All-Stars roster includes: The Professor, AO, Baby Shaq, Air Up There, Bone Collector, Special FX, Springs, Sik Wit It, Violator, G Smith, Mr. Afrika and the newest member to the team “Too Easy” from Maryland. NBA players, past and present that have partaked in previous Ball Up events include: DeMar Derozan, Dennis Rodman, Derek Fisher, James Harden, Julius “Dr. J.” Erving, Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady, Matt Barnes, Rick Fox, Rafer “Skip To My Lou” Alston and Eric Bledsoe to name a few.

Did you know? Ball Up travels through major U.S. cities including Atlanta, New York, Birmingham, Chicago, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Louisville, St. Louis, and Las Vegas.
