It began as a smash Broadway musical then went on to be a blockbuster Hollywood movie; Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel”
Baldwin Wallace University is proud to announce their production of “Carousel” that will be running November 14-24 in the William Allman Theater at the Kleist Center for Art and Drama (located at 95 East Bagley Road, Berea, Ohio)
Using a two piano reduction (crafted by Richard Rodgers himself) BW hopes to go back to “the raw roots” by focusing on “the core of the story” of Billy and Julie. Along with using the two piano reduction, “Carousel will be performed in the round with the audience seated around all sides fo the intimate theater stage.
“The goal of the production," according to Director Scott Plate, "is to show the characters as they are, hardships and all. Heaven appears in the play as a reward for earth’s trials, and as an opportunity to atone for mistakes. The hard effort of life on earth holds the promise of something finer.”
The play will be directed by Scott Plate, with Ben Gantose as lighting designer, Tesia Benson as costumer and Jeff Herrmann in charge of scenic design. Lissy Gulick will take on the role fo Nettie Fowler and will be joining a large talented cast of students and faculty associated with BW’s Departments of Music Theatre and Theatre and Dance.
Tickets for CAROUSEL are $25 General, $20 Seniors, $10 Non-BW Students. Due to the intimate theatre capacity, BW recommends buying your tickets early.
