Baldur's Gate comes to the new GOG.com

GOG.com has officially completed their site re-launch, and to celebrate they are adding the PC RPG classic Baldur's Gate and its expansion Tales of the Sword Coast to their catalog today.

First released in 1998, Baldur's Gate and (the sequels and expansions that followed it) are still considered some of the best fantasy RPGs ever released on the PC.

Built with BioWare's Infinity Engine and based upon a modified set of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition rules, the Baldur's Gate series featured hundreds of hours of gameplay, and you can see in it the inklings that later evolved in games such as Bioware's Dragon Age: Origins.

Baldur's Gate was later followed by Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and its expansion Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal.

Baldur's Gate is available for $9.99 beginning today. To quote the video, "Baldur's Gate is only the beginning."
