The San Antonio area jazz lovers have been enjoying free summer concerts at the Balcones Heights Jazz Festival for over 20 years. And this year they are in for another special summer filled with music under the stars.

This summer's line up begins on July 11th Friday evening starting at 7:00 p.m. and the final concert will be on August 1st. The list of performers and their bios can be found on the website so see the link above. There are also more details about the do's and don'ts for attendance. The July 11th artists will feature Steve Oliver and Cindy Bradley. And the August 1st concert will be featuring Nick Colionne and Joseph Vincelli.

The location is at the outdoor Amphitheater at the Wonderland of the Americas Mall on Fredericksburg Road. This is a free event and outdoor seating is available on the lawn or bring a lawn chair. You can expect a crowd so stake your spot early in the day. Food and drinks are available on site, so coolers are not allowed. This is a great way to start the weekend. Or add some shopping at the mall to explore the area before the concert.

The host of our local radio station Q101.9 is David Munoz and he will be the emcee for the festival. His program is "The Jazz Zone with David Munoz" that you can enjoy on Sunday mornings.

Summer time and jazz just seem to go together. Check out the attached video showing the New Orleans Jazz Fest celebrating 45 years.

So enjoy the music under the stars. Have a jazzy summer.
