Baking up smiles

It takes more than a passion for baking to run a successful bakery. Just ask Andy Renfrew and his sister in law Becky who purchased Pastry and More in 2010. Andy has always had a passion for cakes and started his first wedding cake business in 2003, shortly after, Becky joined the team.

Apart from the pleasure of putting together the perfect wedding cake, it was the smile they saw on their clients’ faces that drove them to create the best bakery in North Idaho. When their cake business grew beyond his home kitchen, they found the quaint little bakery on Highway 95 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and knew immediately it was the place for them.

The decision to buy Pastry and More has more than paid off. They were awarded the Best of Spokane for 2012. It’s easy to see how they won the award. As one of the few scratch bakeries in the area, Andy and Becky are sticklers for using only the highest quality products. Their goal: everything should taste homemade. While that kind of focus is good for winning awards, it’s not the only reason their customers love coming in.

It goes back to their love of seeing smiles on their clients’ faces. Whether it’s the raffles being held, the free coffee served on their anniversary, or honoring special events, Pastry and More goes the extra mile to make their customers smile.

One such event is coming March 9. It’s the official birthday of one of the most iconic childhood characters – Barbie. To celebrate this special day, Pastry and More is inviting Barbie to the bakery to hand out cupcakes and take pictures with all of their customers. They are inviting everyone in the community to join in the fun!

Pastry and More can be reached at (208) 667-3808 or you can find them on Facebook.
