Nature is anticipating the birth of a new season and so are the farmer's markets. Spring is just around the corner, but until the season has completely changed the winter market will be open on March 30, 2013 at Schlafly Bottleworks.
Black Bear Bakery is among the long list of vendors available for this Saturday. If you like a little history with your bagels try BBB's old world 'Lickhalter bagels.' This modern day bakery is still using the recipes of the historic St. Louis Lickhalter Bakery.
Lickhalter bagels are handmade so sometimes the common bagel hole is missing. The quality and taste are not missing though. In 2010, these bagels were voted best in St. Louis according to the Riverfront Times.
All of BBB's breads and other food items are made from scratch using the ingredients from their garden behind the bakery, or from local sources whenever possible.
BBB's ovens are fired up turning out pies, cakes, muffins, brownies, cookies, bagels and specialty breads. Their tables will be overflowing with goodness at the winter market.
Be watching for their delicious assortment of baked goods and other foods at the farmer's markets located at; Soulard, Tower Grove park, Clayton, Maplewood, and Old North.
