Sweetness Bake Shop & Café has grown in recent years and has turned its focus into developing the "café" part of their name. What started off as a bakery and provider of the most affordable cupcakes in Miami has morphed into a place you can go to get actual breakfast and lunch meals and even beer. Yes, the dessert list has expanded to include dessert shots, marshmallows, macarons, and gelatos, but the real appeal to Sweetness is its cupcakes.
On a recent visit to Sweetness Bakeshop & Café, three of their cupcakes were sampled: Rocky Road, Chocolate Chip, and Guayabera. The Rocky Road cupcake is a chocolate cupcake with walnuts mixed into the cake, topped with a marshmallow frosting and filled with vanilla cream in the middle. The cake was chocolaty, but not so much that it would turn those who are not chocolate lovers away and the frosting tasted similar to a vanilla buttercream frosting. The Chocolate Chip cupcake is a vanilla cake with mini chocolate chips mixed into the cake and a chocolate chip buttercream. The cake itself tastes just as described, with the chocolate chips giving the cake most of the flavor. The frosting tasted like a vanilla buttercream with flecks of chocolate chip mixed into the frosting. The last cupcake sampled is the quintessential Sweetness Bakeshop & Café cupcake, the Guayabera cupcake. This cupcake is a guava cupcake filled with guava marmalade and topped with a cream cheese frosting. The cupcake, pink in color, has a mild guava flavor that perfectly balances out the strong guava flavor of the filling. The cream cheese frosting ties the whole cupcake together to create a cupcake that captures the essence of Miami's vibrant culture.
