The next most-nominated game is “The Walking Dead,” with seven nominations: it will be competing against “Journey” for Game of the Year, as well as Game Design, Story, and Original Music; it is also competing in the Best Mobile & Handheld and two Performer award categories.

With six nominations, “Far Cry 3” is nominated for Best Action, Story, Game Design, and Best Game.

And with five total nominations, “Dear Esther” is competing in Best Performer, Best Debut Game, and Best Game of the Year.

“Rounding out the list of honoured games with four nominations are 'Borderlands 2,' 'Assassin's Creed III,' 'The Room' and 'Halo 4',” Karmali states, “while 'Call of Duty: Black Ops II,' 'Mass Effect 3,' 'Dishonored,' 'Forza Horizon,' 'The Unfinished Swan' and 'Thomas Was Alone' each received three nods. Finally, 'LEGO The Lord of the Rings,' 'Need for Speed Most Wanted,' 'FIFA 13,' 'XCOM: Enemy Unknown,' 'New Star Soccer' and 'Diablo III' have two nominations each.”
