Javier Baez continued his recent offensive tear and Dallas Beeler was excellent on the mound, leading the Iowa Cubs (24-20) to a 7-1 victory over the Round Rock Express (23-23) on Thursday night at Dell Diamond.

Baez terrorized Express starter Daniel McCutchen (0-3), raking two doubles to center field and connecting for a mammoth home run, his sixth of the season. Baez finished the night 4-for-5 with 2 RBI, two doubles and a home run. Baez has now hit in seven straight games, going 12-for-28 (.429) with five doubles, three home runs, and 5 RBI over that stretch.

Beeler (2-0) provided and quality start in his best outing in an Iowa uniform. Beeler pitched seven innings, allowing only one run on three hits while walking one and striking out six.

Iowa posted five runs in the fourth inning. After Baez connected for a homer to left, a walk to Christian Villanueva was followed by a single by Matt Szczur and a two-run double by Brett Jackson. Eli Whiteside completed the scoring for Iowa in the inning, blasting his third home run of the season, scoring Jackson.

Chris Valaika picked up an RBI single in the fifth and Baez an RBI single in the seventh to complete the scoring for Iowa.

Brad Snyder continued to torment Iowa pitching. The Express right fielder went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Snyder homered in three-straight games against Iowa to end the four-game series.

Szczur added two hits for Iowa while Logan Watkins hit streak ended at 10 games with an 0-for-4.

Iowa returns home to open a four-game series with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, on Friday night at Principal Park.
