Two of the most prominent MMA gyms in Louisville will make the trip down I-65 on Saturday to the Paroquet Springs Conference Centre in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Baddog MMA will be bringing eight fighters to Hardrock MMA 40 and the Louisville MMA Fight Team (Core Combat Sports) will be bringing two fighters. This is a rare opportunity for these fighters to compete so close to Louisville and they are bound to have hundreds of supporters inside the venue on Saturday night.
Of the eight bouts involving Baddog MMA fighters, there are two that stand out above the rest. Baddog MMA's Chris Boyd (2-0) will try to maintain his unblemished record and capture the Hardrock MMA Super Heavyweight Title when he steps into the cage against Tennessee's John Hernholm (2-0). Boyd notched his first career win in the Second2None promotion and won his second fight at Hardrock MMA 34. Boyd's teammate, Josh "The Pitbull" Blanchard headlines Saturday's Hardrock MMA 40 event.
"The Pitbull" is a great name for Blanchard because he reminds you of a Pitbull when you see him. Blanchard is a stocky, muscular fellow that is voracious in a fight. Like a Pitbull, Josh Blanchard might also be a little bit crazy, but that doesn't bother him or any of his fighters at Baddog MMA. Blanchard (2-0) takes his undefeated record into a light heavyweight matchup with a very talented Chad Deener from Elizabethtown (E-Town Beatdown). Deener is making his professional debut at Hardrock MMA 40 and it should be an all-out war.
Out of the six other Baddog MMA fighters on the card, George Skaer may have the toughest matchup when he enters the cage against 1-0 Genaro Santiago. Brian "Milkk" Gates, Brandon Hurst, Terry Coulter, Dusty Stengel, and AJ Sherrard round out the pack of Baddog MMA fighters on the card.
The two fighters from the Louisville MMA Fight Team are both hungry for wins. Deon Spalding is the former Hardrock MMA Heavyweight Champion and he now enters into a light heavyweight fight against Brad "The Caveman" Hutcheison in a fight that could have implications on the title picture in the 205-lb division. Brandon Bishop is the second Louisville MMA fighter on the card and he will look to get his first professional victory as he steps in to fight JR Hines.
