Charlie Sheen opened up his checkbook again, according to OMG! on Jan. 10, and gave $12,000 to the family of the paparazzo killed while attempting to photograph singer Justin Bieber’s Ferrari last week. Is Charlie turning over a new leaf?
That isn’t so definite, but what is definite is the actor’s generosity of late. Last month, Charlie Sheen gave $75,000 to the family of a girl suffering from a rare form of cancer to help pay her medical expenses. His stunt double kicked in another $25,000 making it a nice round $100,000.
And just a month prior to that, Charlie Sheen gave Lindsay Lohan $100,000 to help pay her seriously overdue taxes. It took Lohan a long time to say thank you to generous Charlie, too.
That’s a lot of money for a guy who got kicked off one of the most popular TV shows around for being difficult and shooting his mouth off just two years ago. If you remember, Charlie Sheen was enjoying fame and fortune on “Two and a Half Men” and in a fit of whatever, he publicly trashed the show’s creator, started giving really strange TV interviews and calling his succession of girlfriends “goddesses.” He was summarily fired.
Now 47, Charlie Sheen seems to want to revamp his image. Not a bad idea, actually, although it’s doubtful Charlie will turn into a Boy Scout any time soon. He was most recently vilified for hurling a homophobic slur at a party. Yes, he was drunk.
Giving credit where credit is due, though, Charlie Sheen is a generous man, whatever else he may be. It is very nice to see him able to add humanitarian and philanthropist to his resume.
