Bacon wrapped chicken

When you hear 'bacon wrapped chicken recipe", the first word that comes to your mind isn't healthy.

However, this recipe allows you to have your cake and eat it to.

Yup, you guessed it; it's about as healthy as you can make it.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup of cream cheese, softened (can be reduced fat)
  • 2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon rosemary leaves (not chopped)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 16 uncooked strips of thick cut bacon

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Season both sides of each chicken breast with salt and pepper. Layer 1/4 cup cream cheese, 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder, 1/4 tablespoon rosemary, and 1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese on top of each breast; in order.

Wrapped each breast with four strips of bacon. Some ingredients may start to spill out, that is ok. seal with a toothpick if necessary.

Place the chicken breasts onto a large stoneware baking dish or lightly grease a baking dish.

Bake in the oven for 45 minutes, turning the breast over halfway through. If by the end of the 45 minutes the bacon is not done, broil until crispy.

There you have it! Incredibly simple, and it won't cause a heart-attack just by looking at it.
