Sunday night, March 10, Go-Go fans packed into La Fontaine Bleue in Lanham, Maryland to attend the first ever Viewer's Choice Awards hosted by GoGoRadio.com's Bootsy Vegas, Neka Ray and DJ DMoney of Da Blend Show.
The event included awards handed out in 37 categories and musical performances.
The top 3 winners of the evening with the most awards were Backyard Band, Killa Cal and DaMixx Band. Backyard Band won in several categories including Band of the Year and Manager of the Year. Killa Cal walked away with several awards including the nod as Best Rapper and DaMixx Band rounded out the top three.
Pioneer Awards were presented to "Big" Tony Fisher of Trouble Funk, Gregory "Sugar Bear" Elliott of Experience Unlimited and James Funk of Rare Essence.
The Chuck Brown Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded posthumously to "Little" Benny Harley, who died in 2010. Two of his children, Brandon Harley and Tiara Bing-Harley were on hand to accept the award on his behalf.
There were musical performances by L.O.U.D., Stephon4U, A Rap Cypher featuring Killa Cal, Lime Green and Choppa Black, Dream Team Band, Body of Evidence Band, Project 360 and a finale by an All-Star Band. There was also a conga performance by Best Conga Player award winner Samuel "Smoke" Dews.
