New York Fashion Week kicked off last week with the Scandinavian designer Ivana Helsinki. Known for their cool, minimalist vibe, the makeup, sponsored by AJ Crimson and executed by lead Sir John Barnett, perfectly complemented the collection.
Inspired by the juxtaposition of spring, Sir John focused on two key products: AJ Crimson BB+D Creams and AJ Crimson Dual Skin Crème Foundation. After prepping the base, Sir John kept the skin flawless, illuminous and glowing with a minimal eye that consisted of Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #4 along with OFRA Cosmetics Clear Gloss for a wet look. To give the skin some warmth and highlight, Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate in Intensity One was essential.
For the lip, Sir John applied a dark berry color to give an ombre strain effect. This was achieved with Nars Train Bleu Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and also some MAC Smolder Kohl Liner in the center. The look was finished with some AJ Crimson translucent powder in the T-Zone and the skin was buffed with a dampened Beauty Blender.
No stranger to the industry, Sir John is amongst the top picks for makeup artistry. His major introduction into the beauty industry stemmed from his lifelong passion for art history and fashion. After being introduced to Pat McGrath and Charlotte Tilburry, he quickly found himself working on every major designer collection around the globe. His celebrity clients are a veritable who’s who of Hollywood A-listers, and he’s worked with some of the top names in fashion including Prada, Givenchy, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent and Dior.
