There are a number of new concerts on the horizon here in Central Iowa. Here are a number of new concert and event announcements that have come to light in the past few days.
Wooly's in Des Moines announced two new concerts this week. The venue will host Twiztid and (hed) p.e., along with Lil Wyte and Potluck, on April 3. Tickets for the 6 p.m. show will be $20 in advance and $22 at the door. They will go on sale at the Wooly's box office and online through Ticketfly starting February 1 at 10 a.m. This will be an all ages event.
Also announced by Wooly's this week was an April 17 concert date for California reggae group Rebelution. Openers for the 8 p.m. show will include J BOOG and Hot Rain. Tickets for this all ages show will go on sale starting February 1 at 10 a.m. through Ticketfly and the Wooly's box office. Ticket prices will be $17.50 in advance and $20 the day of the show.
LAZER 103.3 FM and West Des Moines' Val Air Ballroom will be teaming up on the radio station's 4th Annual Morning Moose's Lingerie Show on February 8. The show will take place at 7:30 p.m. and will feature music by The Snacks, models showing off lingerie from Romantix, games with the crew of LAZER's "Morning Moose" show, and prizes. Tickets are $5 at the door, and $50 VIP tables for six are available through the venue.
The Val Air will also be hosting the Des Moines Music Coalition's annual Backstage Ball on February 22 at 7 p.m. The 4th annual event will honor a number of people that have been pioneers in the local music scene and will have performances by Bob Tyler & the Reckless Hearts and the Uproar Jazz Quintet, as well as 50's vinyl spun by DJ Tone Zone. The sock hop themed party will also feature dancing, food, and drink. Tickets for the event can be had by making a donation to the DMMC.
Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines announced a number a new shows over the weekend. Here is a look at some of the highlights:
March 9 at 9 p.m.: Jon Wayne & the Pain ($10 at door, all ages)
March 20 at 6 p.m.: Fol Chen ($8 in advance/$10 at the door, all ages)
March 20 at 10 p.m.: Jaill ($8, 21+)
March 21 at 10 p.m.: Dirty Bourbon River Show ($7 at door, 21+)
April 8 at 6 p.m.: Beach Day ($8 at door, all ages) *see video*
April 20 at 10 p.m.: He's My Brother She's My Sister ($10 at door, 21+)
April 23 at 5:30 p.m.: Vampirates (Free, all ages)
April 26 at 10 p.m.: My Gold Mask ($8 at door, 21+)
DG's Tap House in Ames announced that 2012 Blues Music Award nominees Trampled Under Foot will play their venue on April 20 at 9 p.m. Tickets for the 21-and-over show will be $15 and are available through MidwesTix.
Big Red Dog Promotions, responsible for the Trampled Under Foot show above, also announced two other new concert dates. Soul and blues singer Terry Evans will play Des Moines' House of Bricks on June 23 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the show are $15 and are available through MidwesTix. This will be a 21-and-over show.
BRDP also announced that roots band The Nighthawks will be coming to the House of Bricks on August 25 at 7 p.m. No onsale date has been set yet for this event, but ticket prices have been set at $15.
