Backlog Challenge 2014 - Four in February: Old Shame Edition

When I set out on this little journey through my stack of unplayed games I mentioned it was inspired by the Four in February event I participated in last year, that being the dedication of the month of February towards completing four games in your backlog. Considering just how much fun I had with it last time I wanted to participate in it again this year, but considering that I'd already set aside the entire year to do so (not to mention the aforementioned time crunch it'd put me under now that I'm employed) I thought I'd try something different:

Along with a backlog, it's not uncommon for a habitual gamer to accumulate a list of games partially played. It could be due to the difficulty of said games, it could be a matter of new releases pulling attention and interest away from older ones, but for whatever reason they can have a way of piling up almost as quickly as wholly unplayed games. This month I plan to tackle four such games from my past. As always, I encourage anyone to join in and share their experience. From me? Expect a month dominated by 2D platformers:

DuckTales (NES)
Kirby's Adventure (NES)
Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Genesis)
Xevious (NES)
