We're about 60 minutes away from the puck drop here at the Bradley Center, marking the Milwaukee Admirals first game back from the AHL All-Star break. What better way to kick off the second half of the season than with the cold, hard facts on the season so far...
- The Admirals are in the midst of a four-game losing streak. They haven't seen a win since their 3-2 overtime victory in Lake Erie back on January 19th. Looking for a win in regulation? That last happened January 14th in a 2-1 fashion against Texas.
- Milwaukee sits 7th overall in the power-play category, converting on 20.5% of their power-plays. The penalty kill category? That statistic isn't quite as impressive. Milwaukee sits in 29th place, just a .10 away from dead last at 76.8%.
- Although the team is slumping, there is no need to panic... yet. The Admirals sit 4th in the Midwest Division with 46 points. In the Western Conference overall, that translates to 10th of 15 teams. On the same token, Milwaukee has played the least games (42) in the entire conference. If they are going to slump, now is the time to do it!
- Goaltender Jeremy Smith ranks 10th among AHL goaltenders by goals against average with 2.35 per game. Smith, who is in his second full season with the Admirals, has a record of 18-13-1-1 in 35 games played. Other categories he ranked high in are Wins (4th - 18 wins), Minutes (1st - 2042:35) and Saves (3rd - 844).
- Forward Michael Latta ranks in several AHL Rookie categories, including Shooting Percentage (4th - 19.7%) and Plus/Minus (4th - +12 in 38 games)
- Forward Chris Mueller, who represented the Admirals in last weekends American Hockey League All-Star Game in Atlantic City, leads the Admirals in scoring. In 39 games, he's amassed 19 goals and 11 assists, good for 30 points.
- Last weekends sold-out Country Music Night, which featured a post-game concert from Dierks Bentley, was the seventh-largest crowd (17,386) to ever see an Admirals game at the Bradley Center, and second-largest since the team joined the American Hockey League back in 2001. The last time an Admirals game sold out was in April of 2006 when the team drew 17,653 fans).
NOTE: For those still heading down to the arena for tonight's Milwaukee/Peoria game, please note that the game is delayed 30 minutes. We're being told the referee will be late getting to the arena.
