As Calgary students gear up for another year of learning, the home schedule can be hectic. With supplies to purchase and sleep habits to adjust, it is difficult to find any extra time to do geocaching with the children.
Here are some great ideas to fit geocaching into your busy life this fall:
• Search for a cache location near a shopping mall. This one in Montgomery is a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of a dense parking lot.
• Let your child pick an item at the dollar store to trade in a future geocache.
• Reward the kids’ shopping patience with a cache of their choice. Better yet, let them hold the GPS.
• Set aside “golden” time each week (or each day – maybe after supper?) where the family goes together to find one cache. Bring the camera.
• If the weather is inclement, watch your trackable coin or travel bug journey online around the world.
The best memory your child creates is time spent with you. Be sure to include them on your geocache adventures (even if it seems they’d rather watch TV). Time outdoors is a natural relaxant. Calm down your student this fall with a walk in the park. It’ll do wonders.
