It is absolutely that time of year again when the summer break for students is coming to a close and the preparations for a new school year are under way. First, is the school supply checklist with everything from Ziplock bags to pencils and pens to paper and calculators. Next, is to make sure that you have a secure bag to carry them in. A two-strapped backpack that is durable for all the weather that we encounter here in Colorado. A messenger bag that has one strap is better than carrying a backpack by one strap as it is designed to distribute the weight better to keep students from suffering back pain or a pulled muscle.
Now, in speaking with the health and fitness of the students of all ages, it is also time to have a back to school yearly check-up or a sports physical, if the student is entering into any teams sponsored by their school. During the back to school physicals, be sure that eyes are checked and hearing is tested because this can impair the students ability to hear instructions, read a book, copy notes from a blackboard and can be a cause of headaches which disrupts the school day. Make sure that all immunizations are current and up-to-date.
An extra accessory to have for your student could be a travel size container of anti-bacterial hand gel, especially during the beginning of the school year. Many students come down with something within the first month of school as many different germs are coming together inside the classroom. The beginning of a brand new school year is exciting! With all of the new accessories and gadgets to help our students learn, let's make sure that all are healthy first. Can't wait to see you all shopping for the brand new school year!
