Back To School: Add Fitness to Your Routine
For children and parents alike, gearing up for heading back to school means settling into a routine. It also presents a great opportunity to make fitness or wellness part of your routine. Here are a few tips:
Rise and Shine: Take advantage of the early morning hours by going for a run or jog. Additionally, most of the household members are likely to be sleeping which allow for a quick escape. To get started shoot to get a 1 mile run in around 6 a.m., you should be done by 6:15 and ready for the rest of your morning activities. Additionally, if you have a fitness club membership most offer 6 a.m. classes if you're more into group fitness.
Make Lunchtime a Time to De-stress: Lunch is a great time to get out and walk with a friend. If you can't take advantage of the outdoors a quick routine of pushups and squats done in short bursts can burn some calories quick. Having a rough morning? Do some stretching or meditating to unwind and gather focus to push through the rest of the day.
Don't Go Home: Immediately after work, make it a priority to get to the gym, track or favorite workout class. Once you go home the likelihood of you going back out, especially to workout, is every slim. Make sure you have your workout clothes with you and make it a point to workout for 40-60 minutes after work. It's a great way to transition from work-life to home-life.
