I recently revisited one of the best vintage spots in Chicago and it was truly unforgettable. Here are my top reasons why:

FASHION SHOW!!!

Beehive Chicago put on a vintage fashion show, Beehive in Bloom, which featured over 25+ looks. We saw everything from 70s style jumpsuits, swimsuits from the 60s, rompers, eveningwear, vacation wear, and 50s style sundresses just screaming red lips and Rock-a-Billy.

The vintage stores that took place in the fashion show were: Take 2 Vintage, Lost Girls Vintage, Imaginary Girl Jewelry and Vintage (handmade jewelry only), Cat’s Pyjamas Vintage + Ephemera, Leah Onomatopoeia Vintage, and Poly Golightly Vintage.

VIP Status for Moi = Goodie Bag

Thankfully and luckily I was able to achieve VIP status at the fashion show. I received a super cute goodie bag filled with all kinds of treats. A few of the goodies included a handmade broach made by Imaginary Girl, a vintage handkerchief from Marthette Vintage Rental, a small journal, aromatherapy, and flower seeds (good for my green thumb). Not to mention, a coupon from my VIP hook-up Leah Onomatopoeia and other gift certificates from Lost Girls, Take2Vintage, and Chicago Avenue Salon (the salon that did the models’ hair and makeup for the fashion show) were also in the goodie bag.

GOGO DANCERS

Need I say more!? Okay well I will say more… The fashion show started with a performance by The Janes. The Janes are Chicago's only authentic 1960s style go-go troupe! The go-go dancers performed to various 45s and other retro music from the 60s.

10 AMAZING VENDORS ALL IN ONE SPOT

Beehive Chicago’s 8,000 sq. ft. loft houses 10 unique vintage vendors. These vendors sell anything and everything, from furniture and home décor, to clothing, accessories, and memorabilia from past-times. The 10 vendors include:

  1. Leah Onomatopoeia Vintage
  2. Take 2 Vintage
  3. Poly Golightly Vintage
  4. Cat's Pyjamas Vintage + Ephemera
  5. Imaginary Girl Jewelry and Vintage
  6. Yetti Treasures
  7. Marthette Vintage Rental
  8. Lost Girls Vintage
  9. South Loop Loft Collection
  10. Tweed Creative Collection

Now for my final reason, all I can say is CHRISTIAN DIOR. I happened to score a vintage, Christian Dior, cross-body, logo pattern bag from Lost Girls Vintage. Lost Girls Vintage carries a large selection of vintage, designer leather goods, i.e.) purses, shoes, handbags, satchels, etc... If you covet these types of items, Lost Girls Vintage is definitely for you.

Needless to say, I left Beehive Chicago with more than just things to take home. I had a great time at Beehive in Bloom. I took a lot of great photos (check out the accompanying slideshow), and I also had a great time with my mom (my guest of honor). The experience and nostalgia that surrounds you at Beehive makes for more than just physically attending, it allows you to make memories. Places like Beehive are the reason you own conversation pieces and have conversation starters. I urge everyone to check out this amazing loft! It is a perfect weekend activity.
