With Congress back from its 4th of July recess, it will consider a bill introduced by Democrat Representative Eric Swalwell of California.
Rep. Swalwll's bill proposes that Congressfolks be able to vote from home, citing the technology exists to make this possible and secure. However, the details of Representative Swalwell's proposal seem a bit sketchy at present.
Regular readers will recall that this writer wrote an article supporting a similar, but non-partisan, grassroots, proposal to Bring the Politicians Home (aka http://eCongressNow.com) on March 9, 2012. (In fact, a link to the website of the organization who made that proposal has been in the closing credits of almost all of this writer's articles since that date)
PROPOSED CAUCUS RESOLUTION - BRING HOME THE POLITICIANS http://t.co/tuhX4bKGAD
The convenience of Congress folks is not high on the list of advantages touted by Bring Home The Politicians.
First, Bring Home the Politicians does not support a willy, nilly free for all vote from where ever you are format.
Rather, Bring Home the Politicians proposes that each Representative should have an office in their district which is upgraded to support the technology and security necessary to effect electronic voting by Congressfolks. In this way, rather than upgrade each Congresspersons home and office each time a new Congressperson is elected, WE THE PEOPLE would have 1 facility in each district which would occupied by the current elected person.
Under Bring Home the Politicians Grassroots Non-Partisan Proposal, Congress folks would meet in Washington DC, at most, 60 to 90 days per year. The rest of the time they would be in their home districts in close proximity to their constituents rather than lobbyist and the temptations of DC. Further, this would help fulfill the Founding Father's directive that Government be transparent and accountable to inhibit the the temptation to betray the best interests of WE THE PEOPLE.
"The fundamental understanding our US Founding Fathers had in drafting our constitution, is People under Natural Law have free will, and are not virtuous by nature. Therefore, governments must be constructed in anticipation of the nature of man. Acting on this knowledge, our Founding Fathers built into our Government and Constitution, various checks and balances.
Amongst these checks and balances were transparency and accountability. All of our problems today emanate from the slow, persistent rolling back of the checks and balances, transparency and accountability our Founding Fathers built into our Government and Constitution." http://t.co/YkDGq8opit
Among the other advantages of Bringing Home The Politicians would be:
Officing Federal Senators and Representatives in their home districts would be more convenient for their constituents. (Washington DC disfranchises constituents from their elected officials);
It is more cost effective for constituents to have their elected officials office in their home districts;
- Lobbyist have came to have more influence on our elected officials than their constituents. Make Lobbyist spend time and money traveling to see each Congressperson in their home district. Make the scumbag Lobbyist commit Federal Crimes and more llkely to be caught by forcing them to use the phone, fax and email;
- Washington DC thrusts upon elected officials much temptation to which they are more vulnerable without the transparency and accountability close proximity to their constituents creates;
- Creating a “Virtual Meeting” Environment would allow more Citizens to watch the proceedings making Congress more transparent and Accountable;
- Creating a “Virtual Meeting” Environment would create a large number of high tech jobs while creating an everlasting addition to our countries infrastructure;
- Officing Federal Senators and Representatives in their home districts is inherently safer from mass terrorist attack than having them all congregated in one location.

Representative Swalwell, this writer respectfully suggests you use Bring Home the Politicians grassroots, non-partisan proposal as a road map for your bill.
Those were my thoughts.

The Conundrum: WE THE PEOPLE are forced to work part time without compensation for the cause of #liberty with what is left over of our time, money and energy, while our #Government works full time with compensation and funded with our money for the cause of #Tyranny.
