A bachelorette party car crash has ended the life of one bride-to-be just one short month before her wedding. The future bride was headed to her bachelorette party with her best friend when the accident occurred on Friday afternoon. The New York Post reported on the details of this tragic car crash on June 24.
Collette Moreno was a passenger in the Chevrolet Malibu her maid of honor Ashley Theobald was driving to the party. The event was set for Lake of the Ozarks last Friday. It looks like a weekend affair was planned for the bride and her friends. The women were behind a semi-truck that was spewing out heavy exhausts. The exhausts were so heavy that it was causing Moreno trouble with her breathing. She suffered from asthma. Her friend saw the problems her friend was having, and she decided to pass the semi.
Theobald said the following about her decision to pass: "She has really bad asthma and there were a few trucks in front of us that had really bad exhausts and she was coughing, so I was like, ‘OK, we have to pass these." It was this decision that turned the day into a fatal one for her best friend. The pair were on a two-lane highway, and a pickup truck was coming from the other direction at the top a hill. A 25-year-old man was driving the 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was coming towards them that day.
Both cars tried to miss each other by swerving, but Theobald's car was still hit. Theobald received only minor injuries, and Moreno did not appear to be badly injured. The truck did hit the passenger side though, and Moreno was pronounced dead just a few hours later at the hospital. Her exact injuries were not revealed. It is being reported that the woman was wearing her seat belt.
It was also revealed that Moreno had to be cut out of the car at the crash scene. Her friend was pulled out from the car through the window. Both were taken to the hospital, and Moreno was taken into surgery. The surgery did not help her with her injuries. She was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m Friday evening.
Theobald said the following about the death of her friend, according to The New York Post: "I was talking to her. She couldn’t talk back but she was nodding at me. I didn’t know it was as bad as it was, because she wasn’t physically super beaten-up." Theobald met Moreno in seventh grade, and they were having fun listening to Taylor Swift and taking selfies right before the crash. Theobald is now being charged with careless and imprudent driving, according to Your Jewish News. The driver of the pick up truck was not seriously injured, and he will face no charges.
Collette Moreno was set to marry Jesse Arcobasso on July 26. The couple had plans for their dream wedding in Jamaica. He rushed to the hospital as soon as he heard of the accident, and she thought she would be okay. Moreno is also the mother of a five-year-old son, and he doesn't quite understand what has happened to his mother yet. Arcobasso said the following about the little boy: "He doesn't quite understand everything just yet. I know it's going to take time."
Arcobasso is not the father of the little boy. He lives in Kansas City. Moreno worked in a doctor's office. Her death has been a shock to everyone. Her mother spoke out about Moreno's death in an interview released on Monday. She said the following: "Complete shock. It wasn't real. It felt like a messed-up dream and I needed to wake up from it and I just couldn't believe it. I still can't."
This tragic death has taken one mother and future wife away from her family far too soon. An exact cause of death has not been released, but it is likely internal in juries are to blame. Her friend did say that her friend did not look hurt at the crash scene. At the moment, the family is planning Moreno's funeral instead of finishing wedding day preparations. The family has set up a memorial fund in order to help them pay for Moreno's funeral. It is a definitely a sad time for this family. A happy occasion has ended tragically before it could even begin.
