The identities of “The Bachelor” season 16 bachelorettes have been revealed! The 25 bachelorettes vying for the heart of Ben Flajnik (whose proposal was shot down by Ashley Hebert in the previous season of “The Bachelorette”) range in age from 23 to “senior citizen” according to ABC and in profession from a nurse and an accountant to a personal trainer and a law student. There’s even a dental hygienist and dental consultant thrown in the mix in case Ben wants to feel nostalgic!
But after reading the list below and the press note released by ABC today, I feel nothing but concern for Ben – for his safety and his sanity. I usually don’t take too much issue with the women and men chosen for “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette,” but I’m praying ABC has highlighted only the negative in this instance.
First, you’ll notice above I said senior citizen; what I didn’t say above is that the senior citizen is an actress. No way am I buying that woman is on the show for love, I don’t care how in love with Ben she claims she is. Next, the press note mentions that one bachelorette is more interested in a fellow house guest – a fellow female – than the man of the hour. And finally, Ben has to deal with a woman who arrives on a horse – grand yes but also a little high maintenance – and a woman who doesn’t even stop to say hello, walking straight into the mansion. Oh, did I mention this is all during the first night?
Since it’s too late for Ben to run, let’s all tune in to “The Bachelor” season 16 premiere on Monday, Jan. 2 to support a beloved bachelor. Check local listings for times.
