'Bachelor' Sean season premiere recap: January 7, 2013

“The Bachelor” has returned! This season, Emily Maynard’s castoff, Sean Lowe, takes his turn to look for love. The season premiered tonight (January 7, 2013) and it was filled with new girls, some familiar faces, and definite game changes.

The show started out with Sean’s background and recap of his journey with Emily last season. After that, he meets up with Arie (also from last season) to chat about their experiences and mostly to take up airtime. There was lots of fluff, not so much important information.

Finally, the first night has arrived. Desiree, Tierra, Robyn, Diana, Sarah, Ashley P., Lesley M., Kristy, and AshLee F. all have their own introduction videos, and then Sean meets up with host, Chris Harrison, and gets ready to meet the ladies.

Some notable ladies out of the limo include Ashley P., who is “50 Shades of Grey” obsessed and brings him a grey tie. Robyn tries to acrobat out of the limo and falls over. Paige was on last season’s “Bachelor Pad.” Desiree brings pennies to throw into the fountain, and Lindsay arrives in a wedding dress. After Tierra’s arrival, Sean goes to Chris Harrison and asks for a rose to give her then instead of at the rose ceremony like usual. Chris complies, and Sean awards Tierra with the first rose of the night. Then, Kacie from Ben’s season is a last minute surprise addition to Sean’s girls.

Sean spent his time with the girls at the cocktail party, and while they weren’t thrilled Kacie was there, everyone kept the peace. Sean gives another rose out, this time to Desiree, after they bond over their families and siblings. The drunken girls were out in full force, but he kept on giving out roses to different girls throughout the night all the way up until the rose ceremony.

With 12 girls (Tierra, Desiree, AshLee F., Selma, Robyn, Catherine, Jackie, Leslie H., Katie, Sarah, Brooke, and Diana) already having roses, Sean only has 7 to give out at the ceremony. He gives the final roses to Amanda, Lesley M., Kacie, Kristy, Daniella, Taryn, and Lindsay. That means Paige, of “Bachelor Pad” was one of the ones sent home.

Next week, the first dates kick off, and Sean fully begins his journey of getting to know the girls and finding his perfect one.
