Paradise may never be the same! “Bachelorette” and “Bachelor Pad” alum Jesse Kovacs turned up this week on the summer spinoff “Bachelor in Paradise,” and he turned the place upside down. On Wednesday, Examiner got the inside scoop from Kovacs on his expectations coming into the ABC reality show, his reputation as the new “Bachelor” bad boy, and, yes, that implied ménage a trios.
He may have been a newcomer to the show this week, but Jesse Kovacs wasted no time getting to know the “Bachelor in Paradise” beauties. In fact, he went on three dates during this week’s two-parter -- with Jackie Parr, Christy Hansen, and Lucy Aragon. But it was an alleged three-way hookup with the latter two ladies that had tongues wagging after Tuesday night’s episode aired.
On his blog for Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, show host Chris Harrison even wrote, “At some point that night Jesse ends up in bed with what appears to be Christy and Lucy, and something definitely happened, though we’re not sure what. I’ll let you guys make your own conclusions on this one.”
So, did something steamy go on behind closed doors? “Things did not go down like the show would suggest,” Kovacs told us via email. “I fell asleep...”
While Harrison has already labeled Kovacs the show’s new bad boy (co-star Lacy Faddoul even called him the franchise’s “biggest shark,” according to Wetpaint), the 32-year-old reality TV hunk says that wasn’t his intention: “I never intended to cause any drama,” Kovacs explained. “I actually try to avoid controversy as much as possible. My only intention going on BIP was to be opened-minded and make the most of any opportunities.”
Kovacs also said it was difficult coming on to the show late, and dished that he didn’t know what to expect when he landed in Tulum, Mexico. “I had no clue who would be on the show,” he said. “I chose Jackie because we had a brief conversation and she seemed sweet. I liked the fact that she felt as awkward as me, so I figured we could be awkward together. Coming to BIP late puts a lot of pressure on you and she knew exactly how I was feeling.”
Considering his stint on the show was full of drama (not to mention that hookup hoopla!), does he have any regrets about his time in Paradise? “No regrets,” Kovacs told us. “I do wish Lucy could have stayed around longer. I've talked to her since the show and she's a really fun girl. Super smart.”
We’ll have to see if love pans out for Jesse Kovacs (the previews for next week’s episode don’t make it look good), but for now he’s concentrating on business. In addition to his Kovacs Brothers Wine company, the San Diego businessman recently opened Liquid Lounge in downtown San Diego.
The next episode of “Bachelor in Paradise” airs on Monday, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
