The Bachelor producers have been running commercials for weeks alluding that a mystery woman from Ben Flajnik's past was about to join the show, but oh no. Spoiler alerts! She's back from the dead. It's Shawntel from Brad Womack's season 2.0!
The Bachelor got so much more interesting to watch on Monday January 16th, 2012 when a mystery guest arrived at the cocktail party held in San Francisco and attempted to steal the love of Ben Flajnik on the show. Surprise, surprise! It was none other than Shawntel Newton back from the dead. She was the mortician who failed to win Brad Womack's heart on his version two of his show (losing to Emily, the ultra-dull North Carolina girl and Chantal O). Now she says she's in love with Ben F and wants to win his heart on the reality TV show!
In Hollywood culture, what goes around comes around. There was lots of screaming and crying and whining to go around as the girls on Ben Flajnik's series got angry someone else was trying to cut in on their reality television show competition, but in the end it was Ben himself who settled all the questions the women had about who he was really interested in getting to know.
While host Chris Harrison helped Shawntel get on the series and walk into the cocktail party, Ben surprised everyone when he ended it promptly and went straight to the rose ceremony. But, believe it or not, when push came to shove on reality TV and Ben was down to only one rose, he refused to give it to anyone -- not even Shawntel.
While he tried to be respectful and said he was flattered, he sent all the girls packing (including his Hollywood-inspired admirer Shawntel).
Will the reality TV celebs drama be over now that she's been sent home or will Shawntel become for Ben F what Bentley was for the girl who dumped him [Ashley Hebert, the Bachelorette from last season] experienced?
If he fails to break all the "what if" attachments he and Shawntel now have, chances are this girl could stand to ruin all chances he'll have at a future relationship being 100% successful with any one of the other women.
