Bachar al-Assad,48, is the President of Syria and Regional Secretary of the Syrian led branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, having served as President since 2000, succeeding his father who led Syria for 30 years. He is currently engaged in Civil war and accused of using chemical weapons to kill hundreds of civilians during August 2013. 137 different nations have voted in the UN general assembly to condemn Assad and the Syrian government.
Pluto-Sun individuals are often about power, and they can be magnetic. Pluto is about extreme power and/or corruption, destruction and regeneration and can make an individual ruthless placed next to the Sun, depending on his-her conditioning.(not all Sun-Pluto individuals are ruthless and some learn to control/channel their drives in productive ways) These are intense individuals who live through Pluto, the planet of destruction and transformation.
Sometimes destruction occurs again and again, only to rebuild and regenerate.
It can be personal destruction or destruction of all that surrounds the individual. This is an intense placement and nothing superficial will satisfy.
al-Assad was the son of a ruthless dictator who ruled Syria for 30 years, so his conditioning from his Father in all likelihood, only reinforced the Pluto drive for power, ruthlessness and control. It was a family trait.
Bachar was said to be quiet when he was young and studied ophthalmology, and was known to have few political aspirations. The turning point in his life came in 1994 when his older brother who was being groomed to be leader was killed, and he was named heir apparent. Had his brother not been killed and he not named his replacement by the Father, his career as an ophthalmologist might have suited him with a stellium of planets in Virgo-Pisces which rules the 6th-12th houses of health, medicine and hospitals.
Sun-Uranus individuals can be charming and charismatic at times. al-Assad was known to dine with many Western politicians before Syria erupted into chaos, and he began killing his own people in Civil War. These people are individualists and often rebel against what is known as the establishment. They question the rules and sometimes break all of the rules simply to avoid compliance. They prefer not to answer to others, can be stubborn and like to think of themselves as reformers.
Uranus is always prominently placed in the charts of dictators. They enter their position suddenly and often are gone just as suddenly as a result of coups, which are Uranian in nature. Uranus rules events that are sudden, explosive and unexpected, and this individual will experience many situations like this in his life and sometimes life abruptly ends.
Uranus is conjunct Pluto at 14-16 degrees of Virgo and astrologer Robert Hand wrote about this combination, " This aspect signifies a generation of people who will have very powerful effects upon the rest of the culture, for they will be revolutionaries in the truest sense. They will be very eager and restless for change, but at the same time patient enough to learn how to really bring it about. They will undoubtedly have a very powerful impact on everyone in society. The parents of these children must be patient and instill in them a real respect for human values. There is the danger that some of them could be absolutely ruthless in their desire for change allowing no human consideration to get in their way."
Whereby Uranus by itself could have inclined al-Assad to support human rights and individual liberties, Pluto’s bent toward corruption and control have overwhelmed this concept. Syria’s record under his administration has not been any more humanitarian than under his father’s 30 year dictatorial rule.
This 3 planet combination highlights rebelliousness and hunger for power more than any other transit, and other words/phrases that describe this stellium of planets include picky, unpredictable, control, power driven, brilliant, destruction, annihilation, nuclear, group power, critical, awakenings, shocking, analytical, critical, breakdowns, revolutions, transformations, intense shocking deaths, taboos, ego maniacal, manic, critical thinking, efficient, concrete, corruption and domination to name just a few.
The potential is for brilliance or insanity and destruction if the ego drive of Pluto is not harnessed.
The time of birth determines the degree of the moon, but al-Assad has a moon in Pisces, and it appears to conjunct Saturn, opposing his stellium of planets in Virgo.
Moon-Saturn individuals have a hard time expressing their feelings, and can come across as cold. Moon-Saturn can indicate a cold marriage/home based on responsibility or obligation. Moon-Saturn individuals often believe love or feelings make them vulnerable which is something they can't afford. It also shows his hard, cold repressive rule toward his own people.
His Moon-Saturn conjunction in Pisces opposes his stellium of planets in Virgo. Sun opposing Saturn individuals can have great discipline to achieve their goals. Saturn-Pluto confers a great determination and can be a combination that lends itself to vengeance and ruthlessness. Uranus-Saturn individuals are rule breakers, extremists and follow their own ideas, often going outside what is considered normal boundaries others consider.
Moon-Uranus individuals can change their mind on a dime. If other planets support it, they can be erratic and unpredictable. When looking at insanity or the possibility of mental instability in a chart another planet is always afflicting the moon. This individual can be considered mentally unstable if Mercury or the third house is afflicted as well.
In the case of al-Assad, his third house contains a Mars-Neptune conjunction at 14-17 degrees of Scorpio. The third house rules the mind and communication and this transit tends toward the morbid, melancholy, dark thoughts and confused thinking, and would not be above lies, deception, or deliberate miscommunication and misdirection. At times it brings a sensitivity or even a precognitive type of awareness or interest in spiritual matters, but it can indicate bizarre psychological aberrations and delusions of grandeur. Scorpio rules the 8th house of death, and under his rule thousands have died. Mars-Neptune transits relate to chemicals and toxins. (it is not impossible he will one day die by chemical weapons or toxins)His thinking would be influenced by psychological conditioning, religious or philosophical viewpoints or visions he may believe are inspired. This transit shows a dark and distorted mind.
al-Assad's Pisces placements have a 9th house connotation toward religion and foreign-related situations. With the oppositions involved he is destined to have conflict with foreign powers/governments, that could involve religious or philosophical undertones.
As with all dictators al-Assad's luck will eventually run out. When Saturn conjuncts his Mars-Neptune in November he is at risk of injury or death, or a family member could die. The November 3, 2013 solar eclipse falls on his Mars which could signify gunfire or explosions that could take place in his immediate area. As Neptune is opposing his Mercury his thinking is off, and he is prone to becoming more delusional and irrational like Muammar Gaddafi in his last year of life. Should he survive fall of 2013, his luck gets worse during summer of 2014 as Saturn conjucnts his Mars-Neptune again for a much longer period of time.
