A Food & Wine Fest Weekend to Please the Gods!
Spring has sprung. And that means one thing to south Florida foodies and wine lovers – the Boca Bacchanal! The Bacchanal is recognized as Boca’s premier wine and food event -- a weekend celebration of food and wine, especially the wine (Bacchanal is, after all, a tribute to Bacchus, the God of Wine!). It takes place March 28-30, all to benefit the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum.
Let the revelry begin! The weekend kicks off with the Friday Vintner Dinners, where world class chefs and vintners team up to prepare private dinners at six individual venues in the Boca area. This year’s master chefs include Matthias Merges (Yusho, Chicago), Chris Jakubiec (Plume at The Jefferson, Washington, DC), Joanne Weir and Gonzalo Rivera (Copita, Sausalito), Ian Schnoebelen (Mariza, New Orleans), Brian and Shanna O’Hea (Academe, Kennebunk), and Daniel Zeal (The Cloister, Sea Island), each of whom will be preparing one-of-a-kind 5-course dinners featuring specially selected wines from some of the world’s top vintners (including Cakebread Cellars, Darioush, Chateau Tanunda, Hollywood and Vine 2480, Benziger, and Champagne Piper-Heidsieck).
The festivities continue on Saturday with the Bacchus Bash. This unique “interactive food and wine experience” allows guests to rub elbows (and forks) with award-winning international chefs and vintners while savoring their signature cuisine and wine selections, all amidst the tropical splendor of the Boca Raton Resort & Club. The night also features live music and dancing, plus silent and live auctions offering spectacular wine, travel, and cuisine packages up for grabs.
Then Sunday, March 29 brings the BIG event, with the spectacular Grand Tasting at the Mizner Park Amphitheater (1:00 - 4:00). Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to Stroll amidst this “casually elegant” open-air setting; Sip over 140 select wines; and of course Savor the culinary creations from some of the area’s top restaurants and culinarians. And what a feast it will be! This year’s A-Team lineup includes Allstar Gourmet Cupcake, Casa D’Angelo, Chops Lobster Bar, City Fish Market, City Oyster and Sushi Bar, D’Angelo Pizza, 50 Ocean, Jazziz, La Stella, Maggiano’s, Mahatama Rice, Max’s Grille, Meat Eatery, Nespresso, Nick’s New Haven Style Pizza, NYY Steak, Oceans 234, Publix Aprons Cooking School, Rack’s Eatery & Tavern, Red’s BBQ, Shake Shack (gotta have one!), Sorissi, Texas de Brazil, The Melting Pot, The Olive Taste, and Truluck’s. Wow! Also on tap, the Beer Garden (back-by-popular-demand) offering craft beer, ales and lagers, AND a live performance by the popular Miami band PALO.
“The annual Boca Bacchanal event benefits the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum’s mission to preserve and share our local history,” states Mary Csar, executive director of the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum. “By offering the community the opportunity to celebrate Boca Raton’s history and lifestyle through exceptional wine and food tastings provided by world-class chefs and vintners and our local restaurants, we strive to raise funds to continue our heritage education and historic preservation programs in the community.”
