The Daiquiri is one of the most often miscalculated and incorrectly poured cocktails at bars across the nation according to some. This three ingredient drink recipe seems simple enough, but becomes quite daunting when one is placed on the spot with Jeopardy theme music chiming away in the background. How about plucking a person from the crowd, placing them at a white clothed table in front of a gathering of people, some of which are mixologist from across the nation, some representing the famous Bacardi family and then putting a time limit on how quickly they can hand shake the legendary Bacardi Daiquiri? That is exactly what took place at Tales of the Cocktail 2009 at the Bacardi Hand Shaken Daiquiri party after hours. Two rounds of competition, ten contestants, and one winner for a trip to Casa Bacardi in Puerto Rico became the focal point of the Bacardi party at one point. For the ten contestants, everything hinged on who could shake up the winning Bacardi Daiquiri.
