Milwaukee, WI: It was Christmas eve, December 24, 2012 when Cory and Sarah Malchow were walking there pit bull puppy, MacGyver.
Sarah recounts, ""I was robbed at about 4:20pm on December 24, 2012 at the northeast corner of Buffum and Hadley while out walking my dog and my dog was taken. He was an American Pitbull Terrier mix. He's 4 months old and weighs about 20lbs. MacGyver is his name and he's tan colored with white "socks" on his paws (the ones in front are a bit taller) and is a red-nosed pitbull."
According to Fox 6 NOW, "someone attacked them and stole the puppy."
"Around 4:20 p.m., as Sarah was walking MacGyver near the intersection of Hadley and Buffum in Milwaukee, she was attacked.
“A person who had been following us came up behind me and grabbed me from behind, kind of held me up in the air, and then threw me down on the ground. Somebody else came up the street and grabbed the dog and unclipped him from his leash,” Sarah Malchow said."
Considering all the terrible stories most news media chooses to report about pit bull breeds, this particular one stikes a sad note. What kind of criminal attacks loving pet owners in broad daylight to steal a puppy? On Christmas eve?
The couple immediately called the police to try and find the microchipped puppy who was due to graduate from puppy obedience class.
A national effort has begun on Facebook:
www.facebook.com/BringMacgyverHome
The page has received over 10 thousand 'likes' and spurred information which might or might not help find MacGyver.
One follower noticed a Craigslist posting offering a puppy very much like MacGyver for sale:

Fliers are being distributed offering a reward for the stolen and much beloved MacGyver.
Yesterday, MacGyver's family and friends met at a local coffee shop to strategize and distribute search posters.
"This Saturday, 10am at Altera coffee on Humboldt in Milwaukee, WI. Cory will be there for one half hour to give people fliers. A bunch of us can meet to get fliers and organize details, but we can head from there to the area they want to flier heavily."

A chip in has been started to raise reward money for MacGyver:
