Hagerstown, Maryland woman, Yadina Indira Morales, is charged with manslaughter, second degree child abuse, and several other crimes linked to the death of her baby girl, according to a Nov. 4, 2013 ABC 15 report.
Morales, 22, was arrested Saturday after passing out while breastfeeding her 2-month-old daughter, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office told The Baltimore Sun.
Authorities were called to Morales’ home Saturday morning after a call reporting an unresponsive infant.
ABC 15 reports the child was found under her mother’s body.
The infant was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is slated to be performed by the medical examiner in Baltimore.
The Sun notes that the Hagerstown Herald-Mail reported in 2012 that a man who Morales called her boyfriend was charged with abuse of a toddler, Morales’ then 2-year-old daughter, after the girl was transported to a local hospital with a number of injuries, including fractured ribs.
The man, Daniel Keith Edmonds, according to court records uncovered by the Sun, was charged with second degree assault in connection with the child’s injuries.
