Baby found alone in apartment complex hallway; parents missing

An abandoned baby was found in an apartment hallway in St. Louis County early Friday morning and the authorities are searching for the parents.

Child welfare officials took custody of a baby boy when he was found in his car seat in an apartment building hallway in the Breckenridge Hills area of St. Ann, an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis, Mo.

The baby, who is somewhere between 4 and 6 months old was healthy and warmly dressed, including a "cozy cover" over his car seat, reports Fox2Now. He had a bottle and was sitting in his car seat that Breckenridge Hills police Detective Jeff Heisse said was expensive.

"This is not a parent who has abused a child," Heisse said.

The hallway of the Hickory Trace Apartment building complex is enclosed, so the baby was not as exposed to the cold temperatures as he would have been if he was outside. Authorities believe the baby had been there from late that evening until 5 a.m., when an apartment resident found him, reports St. Louis Today.

If you recognize this child, please call the Breckenridge Hills police at 314-426-1214 or St. Louis County police at 314-889-2341.
