Baby Elaina: What is believed to be the missing baby Elaina’s body was found in the attic of the Toledo home of her mother’s boyfriend this week, as a cardboard box filled with young human remains was lifted from the rafters by police on Thursday. Elaina’s mother, Angela Steinfurth, and boyfriend Steven King are currently accused of obstructing justice and may face future charges as officers investigate the situation and housing of the cardboard box, WebProNews reports this Friday, Sept. 6.
The baby Elaina was only 1-year-old when she disappeared from a home in Toledo last June. Although family, friends, and police searched for months for little Elaina Steinfurth, nothing on the toddler came to light until this week. While serving a search warrant in the home of the mother’s boyfriend Steven King’s home, they discovered a hidden box in the attic. Inside the box were human body remains, described to be those of an immature skeleton.
The decomposing body had been rotting for some time in the cardboard box, so police announced this morning that it may take several weeks before DNA results are able to confirm whether the humans belong to the missing Elaina.
“The box, recovered from the upper level of the garage located at 704 Federal, contains immature human skeletal remains. Because the skeletal remains are so immature, it is not possible to determine the sex of the deceased therefore DNA is necessary,” said the county coroner’s official statement. “DNA samples have already been submitted to BCI for analysis. DNA is the most accurate and scientific procedure to confirm identity and sex in this case. Anthropologic examination is still ongoing. Toxicology is pending. Cause and manner of death will be assigned when all parts of the autopsy have been completed.”
It is baby Elaina’s father, Terry, who is said to be devastated and finding it almost impossible to stay positive in light of these recent findings. The source concluded that Terry Steinfurth fears the body will be that of his missing child’s. Reports as to whether Elaina’s mother or her boyfriend were involved in the human remains being discovered in their attic are still pending.
Do you believe the missing baby Elaina's body is indeed that of the human remains found in the cardboard box?
