A baby was killed after being placed on an airport luggage conveyor belt at the Alicante Airport in Spain. Why the five-month-old baby was placed on the belt or how she died is still unclear, but it is being called an accident, according to Fox News on Sept. 19.
A Spanish official said the baby and her American mother traveled into Spain's airport on a flight from London. The baby's father, who is a Canadian, was at the airport waiting for his wife and child when the accident occurred.
A spokeswoman Aena, the airport's management company said the baby was on the belt that delivers outsize luggage when the accident happened, but she stopped short at offering up the details of this accident. She spoke with the media but wished to remain unnamed due to the rules and regulations of her job.
The U.S Embassy in Madrid reports it is aware of the incident and could not provide anymore information on the baby's death or the accident. The police in Spain are investigating the incident.
