Baby body parts left in woman after botched abortion results in lawsuit

Although a woman changed her mind about having an abortion, a Planned Parenthood abortionist not only went ahead with it without administering anesthesia to relieve pain and then botched the procedure, leaving parts of the unborn baby still inside Ayanna Byer's' body. The result was that by the time she was seen by a doctor in a hospital emergency room days later, she was septic, running a fever and had an elevated blood count.

According to a report by LifeNews.com on Feb. 20, 2013, the lawsuit filed in Byer v. Doe states that while in the Planned Parenthood surgical procedure room Byer told the abortionist that she did not want to go ahead with the abortion because she had not received the promised anesthetic after staff members had difficulty getting an I.V. into her vein.

Byer was assured she would be administered the anesthetic however the abortion proceeded without it, being told that it was too late to stop. The abortionist continued with the vacuuming the baby out of her body although Byer's was fully awake and felt the full pain from what was being done.

Byer was sent home with pain pills having no idea that parts of the dismembered baby had been left inside of her body. Two days later she ended up in the hospital ER and her life was saved by removing the remaining parts of the aborted child by the use of high-risk surgery.

Attorneys with Alliance Defending Freedom, a pro-life legal group, are representing Byer in behalf of Colorado against Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and one of its doctors.
