Babin, Staples and Schultz among the local talent joining Husson softball

BANGOR-- The Husson University Eagles softball team will have six freshmen on the roster that played at an Eastern Maine high school.

Sarah Babin was the catcher on a Brewer Witches team that advanced to the 2012 class A regional final.

Mallory Conary was the leadoff hitter and spark plug for the Medomak Valley offense.

Emily Staples was dominant in the circle for Caribou high school .

Allison Hill was a key player the last four years for a very strong Calais program.

Sami Schultz was a key player for a strong Hermon Hawks program.

As a sophomore, Schultz hit a game winning walk off home run against Mattanawcook in the 2010 regional final.

Breanna Martin was the shortstop for an Oxford Hills team that reached the class A semifinals last season.

The Eagles have won four straight conference championships and are the preseason coaches pick to win their fifth straight this season.

This group of freshman should help the program have continued success for years to come.
