Luke Babbitt nearly helped the Portland Trail Blazers to a victory Monday night.
The former Nevada Wolf Pack forward hit two 3-pointers a little more than a minute apart late in the fourth quarter of the Blazers' narrow 101-100 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in Philadelphia.
Babbitt's first 3-pointer cut the Sixers' lead to 87-85 with 6:01 to play and his second just 63 seconds later gave the Blazers a 90-87 lead with 4:58 left.
Babbitt finished with six points in 12 minutes and also had a rebound and two assists. While he was on the floor the Blazers outscored the Sixers by seven points, the highest plus-minus rating by any Blazers player.
Babbitt also missed two 3-pointers. He misfired with 3:27 to go with the Blazers up 92-89 and he missed with 2:51 to go with the Blazers clinging to a 92-91 lead.
Babbitt also had an offensive rebound with 24 seconds to go that led to a 3-pointer by LaMarcus Aldridge as Portland cut Philadelphia's lead to 99-97 with 17 seconds to play.
Babbitt is averaging 3.9 points in 50 games this season. The Blazers are 31-35 this year.
