It was the morning of the anxiously awaited Olympic Conference Cheerleading Championships in Southern NJ. A competition that gives each winning team a conference jacket and never-ending bragging rights in the world of Cheerleading. A winning team is champion of its division, but a Grand Champion Trophy is awarded to the BEST TEAM overall. In 2011, the Timber Creek Charger Cheerleaders finally reached their goal of respectfully winning a conference title and a Grand Championship crown, an accomplishment that did NOT come easy. The Cheerleaders from Washington Township High School had been winning this title for over a decade. Thus, Timber Creek had their work cut out for them. Nevertheless.... Timber Creek won! But could they do it again?
Washington Township Cheerleading is a force like no other. Timber Creek would need to "bring it," and then some, to repeat a championship. Hence, TCHS Cheerleading began the season working very hard. In January of 2012, the TCHS Cheerleaders ventured on a trip to the National Cheerleading Championships in Dallas, Texas, a very competitive and worthy national championship. Polished and groomed to perform a beautifully choreographed routine by Head Coach Michelle Costello, TCHS went on to place 3rd overall in the highly competitive NCA Cheer Championships. Making New Jersey proud, the Chargers only missed 1st place and a Nation Champion title in the Medium Varsity Advanced Division by a marginal 1.5 points! Placing TOP 10 in the nation, is an accomplishment most teams only dream of. The Timber Creek Chargers made that dream a reality!
But....their run of glory was not over yet. A back to back Olympic Conference title awaited them. On Sunday, February 19, 2012, the Timber Creek Charger Cheerleaders gave a Show Stompin' performance. With TC fans dressed in "Race for the Cure" pink shirts, and the stands loaded with spectators from various south jersey teams, the Chargers rocked the gymnasium and once again clinched the Olympic Conference Divisional and Grand Champion title! Will this be a decade of Charger wins? Although continued success remains to be seen, the cheerleading talent in Gloucester Township keeps getting better and better!
