Edele Lynch of recently reformed pop group B*Witched dropped by Irish radio show "Savage Sunday" to give an update on the band and her own recent activities. During the chat, she said that B*Witched have decided to record a new album together.
"We are actually going to make a new album," Lynch told the radio host. "But we just decided literally this week that this is something we want to do so we're going to get back in the studio now in the next few weeks."
B*Witched was one of the major U.K. pop groups of the '90s and '00s that decided to regroup this year for ITV2's "The Big Reunion." The premise of the show was for the bands to prep for a one-off comeback gig at London's Hammersmith Apollo. The success of the Hammersmith Apollo show led to a full on arena tour around the U.K., which continues this December. As a part of the the group's reunion, B*Witched also recorded a new telling pop-rock track entitled "Love and Money."
B*Witched appeared on music charts around the world in 1998 with their debut single, "C'est La Vie." The cheerful pop track charmed American audiences when it hit no. 9 on Billboard's Hot 100 and it was also the first of four straight no. 1s in the U.K. The demin-clad group's debut album would go platinum stateside and they would chart on Billboard again with "Rollercoaster." Follow-up album "Awake and Breathe" soon went gold in the U.S. After all that success, they were later dropped by their record label and B*Witched disbanded in 2002.
For this third album, Lynch said the band will be writing their own material (as they have been doing since releasing "C'est La Vie" in 1998). If "Love and Money" is any indication of what to expect, it will be a treat for B*Witched fans to hear Edele Lynch, Keavy Lynch, Sinéad O'Carroll and Lindsay Armaou together again on a new record. Edele thinks the album could drop sometime early next year.
For fans in the U.K. that want to see B*Witched perform their old hits, tickets for "The Big Reunion" tour in December are now on sale. Edele Lynch is currently a player on "The Celebrity Apprentice Ireland," which airs Monday nights on TV3.
