B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe) is accepting registrants for upcoming programs at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona in May and Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, California in June. More than 10,000 teens have already completed B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen Pro-Active Driving Schools since the program was created in 2008.
The Arizona sessions are scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 4th at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park from 8 a.m. to noon MT and 1 to 5 p.m. MT. The Pomona sessions will take place on Saturday, June 28th and Sunday, June 29th at the Pomona Fairplex from 8 a.m. to noon PT and 1 to 5 p.m. PT.
B.R.A.K.E.S. is dedicated to providing young motorists an intensive driver training program focused on increasing concentration, confidence, and control behind the wheel free of charge. The program was founded by Top Fuel driver Doug Herbert who lost his two young sons, Jon and James, in a 2008 highway accident.
"These schools are challenging, demanding, but at the same time enjoyable and eye-opening," says Herbert. "The thing we see repeatedly at just about all of our schools is the change in attitude the kids go through from the time they arrive to when they complete the course. At first they question why they need this training since they already have their driver's license, and when the course is over, they're amazed at how much they've learned."
The Teen Pro-Active Driving Schools is open to teens ages 15 to 19 years old with a permit or driver's license and at least 30 hours of seat time. A parent is required to attend with their teen. Those interested can register online at www.putonthebrakes.com and a confirmation will be sent to you (requesting a $99 refundable check to hold your spot). Classes usually fill up fast so register now to insure a place for your teenager(s).
