Just as they did Tuesday night in their 15-3 victory, the Binghamton Mets busted out the whoopin' stick on Wednesday afternoon, taking the rubber game of the series, 10-4.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis who went 5-for-6 on Tuesday picked up right where he left off, as he doubled to lead off the game.  It was his only hit of the game on a 1-for-5 day.  It was Nick Evans who did the majority of the damage today with four hits, including two doubles and a run scored in a 4-for-5 day.

Evans big day started early as he followed Nieuwenhuis' double with a double of his own, to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Things got worse before they got better for Sea Dogs starter Kyle Weiland (0-2, 9.00).

After Zach Lutz grounded out, Lucas Duda walked and D.J. Wabick picked a good time to send his first long ball of the season skyward.  His 3-run blast made it 4-0 in favor of the visitors.

Portland (6-7) did get one back off Binghamton starter Mike Antonini (2-1, 6.28) when Ryan Kalish led off with a homer.  The Mets got that run back in the third when Lutz hit his Eastern League leading fifth dinger of the season.

The Mets put the game away in the fourth when they put a three-spot on the board, energized by newcomer Brahiam Maldonado who went 2-for-4 last night in his debut.  He drew a one out walk on Wednesday and stole second.  Luke Montz followed with a free pass of his own and both of them were homeward bound, thanks to a double by Jonathan Malo to make it 7-1.

Evans continued his hot hitting a couple days after being named the Player of the Week in the Eastern League.  He drove Malo home one out later with his single to left for a 8-1 cushion.

Portland's second run came in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Lars Anderson.  After a scoreless fifth, Portland pushed one across in the sixth.  Anderson was the culprit again as he doubled with two outs to score Ray Chang, who had singled moments earlier.

Those two hits meant the end of the day for Antonini, who gave way to Josh Stinson.  He got the final out of the inning, getting Juan Apodaca to ground out to short.

Luke Montz had an authoritative answer for the Sea Dogs in the top of the seventh when he hit his second home run of the season, a 2-run job to make it 10-3.

Portland got their last run of the day on a weird sequence in the eighth.  Reliever Roy Merritt gave up two walks and a wild pitch in the inning and that was followed by a catcher interference call.  A ground out by Anderson was good enough to give him his third RBI on the day.

With the victory, Binghamton (8-6) won their second in a row, after dropping three straight and now will return home Thursday to start a seven game homestand against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.  Game time is set for 6:35 and if you can't make it to NYSEG Stadium, you can hear the game on WNBF1290.

Eddie Kunz (1-1, 9.72) will get the ball for Binghamton, while the Eastern League East division leading Fisher Cats will counter with Bobby Bell (1-1, 9.90).

B-Mets Injury update: Evans returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing two games with food poisoning.  Marshall Hubbard had an X-ray done on his ankle that showed no fracture. Hubbard suffered the injury during Monday's game.  Outfielder Carlos Guzman, who went on the seven-day disabled list Tuesday with a right knee sprain, is off crutches.
