The Binghamton Mets first step toward putting a disappointing 2011 season behind them begins this coming Saturday, March 17, when they kick off their 2012 Spring Training schedule against the Springfield Cardinals.

Binghamton finished fifth in the six-team East Division of the Eastern League in 2011, with a record of 65-76 under Manager Wally Backman.

Now under the leadership of another former Major-Leaguer Pedro Lopez, Binghamton will look to make its first playoff appearance since 2004, when they lost to New Hampshire three games to one in the first round.

All games are set to start at 1 PM. Recaps of each contest will be made available on the B-Mets’ official website, www.bmets.com.

Following their final game in the Sunshine State on April 1, the B-Mets will break camp and make the trek north to NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton will kick off their season at home on Thursday, April 5 at 6:35 PM against the Akron Aeros.

Individual tickets for all B-Mets home games are slated to go on sale Friday, March 16 at 9 AM. For tickets, visit the B-Mets front office during regular business hours or call (607)723-METS.
